Reverb G2 VR Headset

Basic setup for G2 to use overlays in iRacing, if you are not Pro Racelab Subscriber and not using VR Beta.

  1. You must ensure you have previously downloaded and installed VC_REDIST.X64.EXE from Microsoft. If you run the file and it says it is already installed, that is fine to continue. If it was not installed, a computer restart is needed after it is installed.
  2. G2 initial setup should have already been done. Plug power cable into connection box, that leads to USB port, and G2 will open Windows Mixed Reality (WMR)
  3. In Steam search for and download, "WMR for SteamVR" and also download SteamVr  (A Steam account is required to download and install it)
  4. Start headset, and start WMR for SteamVR. Next open SteamVR to run the Steamvr initial setup.  Right click on the SteamVR status box that appears when SteamVR is running. Click Settings -->> OpenXR -->> Set advanced settings to "Show". You may need to search Google on how to enable Developer mode for steamvr.
  5. On the OpenXR page -->> Set Steamvr as the “Default openXR runtime” to be SteamVR.
  6. Close SteamVR - Steam can also be closed manually.
  7. If you have more than 1 computer monitor, right click on the screen and select display setting, and select correct monitor to default.
  8. Start iRacing -->> Choose OpenXR as your iRacing display mode from top menu of iRacing -->> join a practice session.
  9. You will see SteamVR Status box appear on screen and in taskbar. This is what should happen.
  10. IRacing will finish loading and you should now see it inside headset.
  11. Lift headset up and start Racelabs. Ensure you select iRacing from top left of Racelabs, choose an overlay to add from left. Enable the overlay, by clicking “overlay” button on right.
  12. Click unlock button and position the overlay on the screen with mouse, and then press lock button to lock in position.
  13. 2 important things. If you have a space in your windows user name like “JOHN SMITH” instead of one word like “johnsmith” or you use an AMD graphics card =>> you do not use the VR Mode button in Racelabs. You will need to use a program called “Crewchief” instead.
  14. If 12 does not apply you can press the VR Button in Racelabs and should see the overlay appear inside the headset.
  15. Press tab key 2 or 3 times quickly to enter edit mode. And use mouse and mouse button down to move the overlay. (Left) moved it around. (Both) zooms I’m out. (Right) resizes the overlay. (Mouse wheel down) rotates overlay.
