RaceLab Support – Requirements & DownloadsRequirements & Downloads
Before you install RaceLab, it helps to quickly check your PC and games
so nothing surprises you later. This page keeps it simple: what you need,
what is optional, and where RaceLab normally gets installed.
One-minute summary
To use RaceLab you need:
- A Windows gaming PC that can already run your sim comfortably.
- At least one supported racing sim installed.
- A RaceLab account (free or Pro).
- The RaceLab app downloaded and installed on the same PC.
1. PC and operating system
RaceLab runs on a Windows gaming PC. If your machine can run modern sims
like iRacing, ACC or Le Mans Ultimate at reasonable settings, it is
usually strong enough for RaceLab as well.
- Operating system: modern 64-bit Windows.
- CPU: a recent quad-core or better.
- RAM: 8 GB minimum; 16 GB or more recommended for
heavy sims and streaming.
- Graphics card: a gaming GPU from Nvidia or AMD suitable
for your sim and monitor setup.
- Internet: stable connection for logging in, syncing
overlays and checking for updates.
Tip – check your current performance first
If your sim already struggles on its own, fix that before adding any
overlays or streaming. RaceLab works best when the base game is stable.
2. Supported games
You need at least one supported racing sim installed. RaceLab is designed
to work with several popular PC titles, including:
- iRacing
- Assetto Corsa
- Assetto Corsa Competizione
- rFactor 2
- Le Mans Ultimate
- Automobilista 2
- Formula 1 series on PC (supported years)
You do not need to own every game in the list. Many people use RaceLab
for just one or two sims and add more later.
Important
Each sim still needs its own licence, account and install. RaceLab does
not replace or unlock any game content – it only reads telemetry from
games you already own and run legally.
3. RaceLab account and membership
RaceLab itself uses an account system. You can start on the free tier and
decide later whether you want the Pro features.
- Free account: gives access to a strong set of basic
overlays and layouts.
- Pro membership: unlocks extra overlays, advanced
tools and additional streaming / VR features.
-
You use the same RaceLab login inside the app and on the website.
Tip – keep it simple at the start
Building a good layout with the free overlays first is usually the best
way to learn RaceLab. If you later decide that you need the extra tools,
upgrading is much easier when you already know what you use.
4. Downloading RaceLab
Once your PC, games and account are ready, you can download and install
RaceLab. In most setups the process is:
- Go to the official RaceLab website.
- Download the main RaceLab installer to your PC.
- Run the installer and follow the normal Windows prompts.
- After installation, launch the RaceLab app and log in with your account.
If you plan to use VR with RacelabVR, there is a separate
VR installer that you add on top of the main RaceLab app. That is covered
in more detail on the VR & Displays pages of this site.
5. Optional but recommended extras
- Second monitor or tablet: handy for monitoring chat,
OBS or web dashboards while you drive.
- Streaming software: OBS Studio, Streamlabs or
similar, if you want to put RaceLab overlays on a live stream.
- Microphone and webcam: for streamers who want to
combine RaceLab overlays with commentary and facecam.
- Wheel and pedals: RaceLab will still work with a
gamepad, but most people using these tools are on a wheel.
Tip – keep a backup of the installer
After you download RaceLab and confirm it works, save a copy of the
installer in your normal backup location. If you reinstall Windows later,
you do not need to redownload everything on a slow connection.
6. Quick checklist before the next page
Before moving on to “Install & Login Basics”, make sure you have:
- A working Windows gaming PC.
- At least one supported sim installed and tested.
- Created your RaceLab account.
- Downloaded the RaceLab installer (and optionally the VR installer).
