Quick reminder: If overlays don’t show, switch the game to
Borderless /
Windowed (Fullscreen) and restart the game once.
[1]
Step 3 — Recommended Launch Order (Most Reliable)
Option A (recommended)
- Open RaceLab.
- Select your Game/Sim in RaceLab.
- Start the Game.
- Go on track (not just menus).
- Enable overlays / load your layout.
Option B (if detection is weird)
- Start the Game first.
- Go on track.
- Alt-Tab, then open RaceLab.
- Enable overlays / load your layout.
After changing window mode, telemetry settings, or plugins, restart the game once (many sims require it).[2]
Step 4 — Overlays Basics (So You Don’t Get Lost)
In-game overlays
- These sit on top of your game while you drive.
- They need borderless/windowed display modes to render properly.[1]
- Move/scale them in the layout editor, then save.
Stream overlays (OBS)
- These are used in OBS scenes (they do not have to appear inside the game).
- Great if you want a clean cockpit and minimal HUD.
Fast Fixes (Overlays Not Showing / No Data)
Overlays not visible
- Confirm you are on track.
- Switch to Borderless or Windowed (Fullscreen), then restart the game.[1]
- Try the other launch order option above.
- Temporarily disable other overlays to test.
No telemetry / no data
- ACC: configure
broadcasting.json as per the official guide.[4]
- LMU: install the telemetry DLL and enable it in
CustomPluginVariables.json (note the required space in " Enabled").[5]
- F1: enable UDP telemetry and set the correct UDP format + 60Hz rate.[6]
VR users: check VR compatibility notes (legacy Oculus API not supported; OpenComposite has known limitations in some games).
