RaceLab Support – Overlay by Category (Overview)

Overlay by Category – Quick Overview

RaceLab has a lot of overlays. New users often see a long list of names and are not sure which ones they actually need. This page groups the most common overlays into simple categories, so you can quickly find the type of overlay you are looking for and then click through to the detailed pages in this help site.

How to use this page 1) Find the category that matches what you are trying to do (race information, fuel, relative, streaming, etc.). 2) Note the overlay names in that category.
3) Use the menu on the left to open the detailed page for each overlay.

Race information & standings

  • Relative – shows cars directly ahead / behind you.
  • Standings – full race or session leaderboard.
  • Mini Standings / Compact Standings – small version of the leaderboard.
  • Delta / Lap Time style overlays – current lap vs best, gaps.
  • Race Overview / Tower overlays – bigger list of drivers and positions.

These are the overlays most drivers use all the time. They tell you where you are, who is around you, and what your gaps look like.

Fuel, stint & strategy overlays

  • Fuel overlays – how much fuel left, laps remaining, fuel to add.
  • Stint / Run info – laps in current stint, averages, tyre info (where supported).
  • Pit stop helper overlays – target fuel, pit box information, etc.

Use these when you want to plan pit stops, avoid running out of fuel, and understand your stint length in longer races.

Driving aids & track awareness

  • Radar – car proximity around you, very useful for side-by-side racing.
  • Track Map / Relative map – where everyone is on the circuit.
  • Off-track / incident counters where supported.
  • Car status overlays – tyre temps, pressures, brake temps (depends on sim support).

These overlays help you understand what is happening around the car and avoid contact, especially in close racing or multiclass sessions.

Starts, restarts & race craft

  • Start helper / Launch overlays – information for grid starts.
  • Gap / Pace overview – who you are racing, pace vs class, etc.
  • Battle overlays – focus on cars in your current fight.

These are handy for league races, ranked races and big official events where positioning and clean race craft matter.

Streaming & content creation overlays

  • Streaming Overlays – Free to Use page:
    • Chat Overlay (Twitch chat box).
    • Chat Highlight Overlay (feature a single message).
    • Chat Race Game and Chat Race Standing overlays.
    • Custom Text Overlay (BRB / info messages).
    • Custom URL Overlay (external widgets / timers / stats).
    • Garage Cover Overlay (hide menus / setups).
    • Mic Visualizer Overlay (mic bar / waveform).
    • Promo Code Overlay (show creator / affiliate code).
  • Twitch Chat Overlay – alternative chat view for Twitch.
  • Chat Highlights Overlay – additional ways of showing key messages.

These overlays are mostly for streamers and content creators who want chat, mini-games and information visible on Twitch, YouTube or other platforms.

VR & multi-screen friendly overlays

  • Compact or VR-friendly versions of Relative / Standings overlays.
  • Smaller Radar and Track Map options that fit in VR.
  • Layouts designed specifically for triples or ultrawide monitors.

If you drive in VR or on triple screens, look for VR / compact versions of overlays in the RaceLab layout browser to reduce clutter.

Quality of life & misc overlays

  • Session info / clock – local time, session remaining.
  • Incident / SR trackers where available.
  • Information panels with server details, weather and event info.
  • Small branding or logo overlays.

These are nice extras that make the layout feel complete and keep you informed without needing to open the in-game UI as often.

Free vs subscription overlays
Some overlays are completely free; others require an active RaceLab subscription. On the RaceLab website and in the app, overlays that need a subscription are normally marked with a small icon. If you open an overlay and it does not work as expected, check whether it is a Pro / subscriber-only overlay.

This page was created by a RaceLab community member Scottozy, based on personal experience using RaceLab overlays together with publicly available documentation and community feedback. It is an unofficial help page and is not an official RaceLab publication.
