Streaming Overlays – Free to Use

RaceLab includes a set of streaming overlays designed primarily for Twitch streams. These overlays are all free to use – no Pro subscription required – and can be run alongside your race overlays or on a separate browser source in OBS / streaming software.

Some streaming overlays work with any stream layout (for example Garage cover, Mic visualizer, Promo code alert, Custom URL and Custom text). The dedicated Chat and Chat highlight streaming overlays currently support Twitch chat only – YouTube and other platforms are not yet supported for these two overlays.

Quick rule: if you see a small Pro icon after the overlay name in RaceLab, that feature is Pro only. The streaming overlays listed on this page do not show that icon – they are free for every RaceLab user.

Overview of Streaming Overlays

Overlay Main purpose Typical use on stream
Chat Shows your Twitch chat inside an overlay.
(Twitch only – YouTube and other platforms are not supported yet.)
Pin in a corner so viewers can see Twitch chat replay on VODs and clips.
Chat highlight Displays one Twitch chat message at a time in a large, clean box.
(Also Twitch only – YouTube and other platforms are not supported yet.)
Use to feature questions, donations, or funny comments during the show.
Chat race game Lets chat send commands that affect a mini “race” game. Great for warm-up or break screens – keeps chat engaged between sessions.
Chat race standing Shows the current standings for the chat race game. Place near the top or side so viewers can follow who’s leading.
Custom text Simple text box overlay. Use for messages like “Be right back”, sponsor names, Discord links, etc.
Custom URL Loads a webpage inside an overlay frame. Ideal for showing external widgets, alerts, or a simple web dashboard.
Garage cover Full-screen or large panel cover while you’re in the garage / menus. Use during car setup, menu navigation, or when hiding sensitive info.
Mic visualizer Audio-reactive bar or waveform for your microphone. Place near your webcam to show when you’re speaking or muted.
Promo code alert Shows a message or panel with your promo / affiliate code. Pin this where it is always visible when you want to promote a code.

Note: Only the Chat and Chat highlight streaming overlays are limited to Twitch chat. The other streaming overlays on this page can be used in any standard streaming scene layout.

Quick setup – Streaming overlays in RaceLab

  1. Open the RaceLab App and go to the Layouts section.
  2. Create or edit a layout used only for your stream (for example “Stream – Chat & Alerts”).
  3. Click Add widget and choose the streaming overlay you want: Chat, Chat highlight, Chat race game, Garage cover, Mic visualizer, Promo code alert, etc.
  4. Position and scale each overlay so it fits your stream scene in OBS or your streaming software.
  5. Copy the overlay URL from RaceLab into a Browser Source in OBS.
  6. Save the scene and test in a private or unlisted stream before going live.

You can mix multiple streaming overlays in the same layout – for example: Chat + Mic visualizer + Promo code alert for a “talking” scene, or Garage cover + Chat for when you’re changing car setup.

Streaming Overlays – Free to Use
