The reliable rule: In the RaceLab overlay picker,
no Pro badge = free overlay. If the badge appears, it requires Pro.
How To Identify Free Overlays (Inside The App)
- Open RaceLab.
- Open your Layout Editor for the sim you use.
- Click Add overlay (overlay picker).
- Check the overlay list:
- No Pro badge → free overlay.
- Pro badge → requires Pro.
Recommended Starter Layout (Free-Friendly)
Simple starter stack
- Relative
- Standings
- Radar (if available free in your version)
How to build it safely
- Add only 2–3 overlays first.
- Position and resize.
- Lock overlays.
- Save layout and restart the sim once.
Common Free Overlay Types (Examples)
RaceLab changes over time, so use the badge in your app as the authority.
These are common examples users often start with:
Awareness & tools
- Radar (tier may vary)
- Fuel tools (names vary by version)
Reminder: VR overlays are Pro-only.
If you are in VR and overlays aren’t working, check the VR section of this site.
Quick Fixes (When Free Overlays “Don’t Show”)
Overlays invisible
- Switch the sim out of exclusive fullscreen (use borderless/windowed).
- Make sure you are on track, not in menus.
- Start order: sim → on track → then RaceLab.
No data inside overlays
- Confirm the correct sim is selected in RaceLab.
- Check sim telemetry settings (varies by sim).
- Close other telemetry apps for the first test.
